Applus+ works in the inspection, testing and certification sector, with a presence in more than 58 countries and a stated position of taking clients together, beyond standards. Its work is arranged both by market and by cross-market technical service. Industrial and energy markets include oil and gas across upstream exploration and production, midstream distribution and downstream refining, onshore and offshore; power, covering nuclear, power grid transmission and distribution and thermal power generation; renewables, covering solar, wind, energy storage and hydrogen; mining; marine; and telecommunications. Infrastructure and buildings work covers airports, buildings, industrial construction, railway, roads, ports and maritime, and water infrastructure. For governments and public organisations the group runs verification of conformity programmes, public infrastructure management and public waste management, and it operates statutory vehicle inspection concessions in countries including Andorra, Argentina, Chile, Denmark, Ecuador, India, Ireland, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden and Uruguay. A connectivity and products division handles construction products, electrical and electronic goods, medical devices, payment systems and electronic identity, raw materials and drone testing, along with cybersecurity assessment. Aerospace and defense is a further market. Automotive product development is a substantial part of the group. Through Applus+ IDIADA and Applus+ Laboratories it supports the whole vehicle and component development cycle for manufacturers and for Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 suppliers, with a presence in Europe, China and North America. Component testing spans electric, hybrid, hydrogen and conventional vehicles, taking in high voltage components, charging systems, electric motors and battery systems, airbags, braking systems, connectors and harnesses, tire development and testing, electromagnetic compatibility, environmental resistance, vibration, safety, durability, performance and materials testing, and automotive cybersecurity. Vehicle testing and engineering runs from virtual development and simulation through to final validation in laboratories or on test tracks, covering ADAS and connected and autonomous vehicles, body design and body performance, chassis development, durability and reliability, electronics, NVH, passive safety and powertrain and new propulsion systems. The group is an internationally accredited technical service for the homologation of passenger cars, commercial vehicles, motorcycles and their systems and components, and it operates proving grounds in Spain and China for controlled testing of performance, safety and durability. Cross-market services include non-destructive testing of pipelines, welds, pressure vessels and structures, advanced NDT methods such as IWEX inverse wavefield extrapolation, a full matrix capture ultrasonic technique that records individual A-scans for each element of an array, plus environmental management, energy efficiency, health and safety and sustainability solutions. Certification covers management systems as well as product certification and market access. Reported additions to the group include the APEM Group environmental services division, the product cybersecurity specialist Teron Labs, the Italian environmental consultancy Ambiente, and Novotec, which delivers environmental permitting.
