DeepVision AB
Develops underwater imaging sonar systems for mapping and inspection, including side-scan sonar applications.
DeepVision AB, which trades online as DeepVisionSonar, is a Swedish manufacturer of side scan sonar systems based in Linkoping. The company was started in 2008 by Fredrik Elmgren and Ulf Langstrom, and its account of its own origins is unusually direct: development of a side scan sonar began as a way to search for and discover new shipwrecks, a project driven by the founders' interest in diving and the sea, which grew over time into a company with a refined product range. Today its sonars are used by professionals in a variety of fields around the world, with systems specialised for tasks that include locating mines, mapping biological natural values, mapping pipelines and cables, and searching for missing people. The hardware range is organised around how the sonar is deployed. The LittleEye Complete Package is sold as a complete package. The DeepEye Dual Towfish 340kHz/680kHz is a towed dual-frequency body, and the Equilibrium Neutral Towfish is a neutrally buoyant towed alternative. For installations that stay on the boat there is a Hullmount option and a Standard Precision Sonar System, and the company also supplies OEM Systems to integrators building sonar into their own platforms. Software sits under the DeepView 5 name and is split into modules covering the different data types and workflows: DeepView 5 Side Scan, DeepView 5 Depth/Downscan, DeepView 5 PRO, DeepView 5 Remote Objects and DeepView 5 SurveyPlanning. Around these are the parts needed to put a system to work, listed as accessories: cables, the DeepWinch incl. Steel armored 4,2 mm cable 300 m, the DeepVision GPS HP USB including antenna, surface units, the Side Scan Transducer Dual 340kHz/680kHz incl. fixed cable, Downscan Transducers, an Electronic Housing 300m rated for that depth, and a DELL Rugged 14 PRO computer. Alongside equipment the company offers Training, and reaches customers through a network of retailers as well as directly. Its stated approach to selling is advisory rather than catalogue-driven: the aim is to help a buyer choose the equipment best suited to them so that it helps them achieve their goals, rather than simply to supply a unit. What the company says stays constant is a passion for the sea and for improving and developing its products, summed up in the line that it is no longer time to imagine the depth but time to image it. Contact and operations run from Hackeforsvagen 1, 589 41 Linkoping, Sweden.
