//Overview

Island Offshore, a Norwegian offshore service company, owns, manages and charters offshore service vessels. Its own summary of itself runs short: a trusted partner in the offshore service sector, known to think differently but never to take risks. The commercial offering builds on the fleet, which the company organises into vessel segments and which amounts to 18 vessels in operation. Some of that capacity goes to the spot market, and the company invites chartering enquiries directly, so a customer can approach it either for committed work or for shorter, opportunistic hire. Chartering therefore covers both ends of the market, from a long committed programme down to a single spot fixture. Ownership sits with two shipping families. The Ulstein and Chouest families hold the majority of the Island Offshore Group, and they have participated in building and managing Offshore Service Vessels since the early 1970s, both directly and through different industrial partnerships. That involvement in building vessels as well as running them carries through to a continuing newbuild programme rather than a purely second-hand acquisition strategy. Two new vessels have been under construction, both with Vard Shipyards Romania. NB 977 Island Evolution was successfully launched on 9 February 2026 at Vard Braila, tasting water under her keel for the very first time; a keel-laying ceremony for the same hull had been held on 6 May 2025. Her sister vessel, NB 978 Island Explorer, entered construction on 1 July 2025 with a steel cutting ceremony at Vard Shipyards Romania in Tulcea. The company keeps an archive of company news and updates covering these milestones, observing that with 18 vessels in operation there will be stories to tell. Alongside the fleet, Island Offshore gives sustainability and careers standing sections of their own, together with a media section for press material and a contact route for enquiries. The operating entity, Island Offshore Management, sits in Ulsteinvik, Norway.
