Kongsberg Discovery
Develops marine and subsea technology including sonar, underwater sensors, positioning, and other ocean science and survey systems.
KONGSBERG develops and delivers technology and solutions across three broad areas: defence and security, ocean space, and space. In defence and security it serves customers worldwide with systems such as strike missiles, remote weapon stations, air defence systems, command and control systems, and digital remote towers. Naval sonars, aerostructures, aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul, defence communications, missile systems, naval systems, and aviation security and C4ISR all fall within the same business scope. Those offerings support connected, mission-critical operations, and they serve defence, security, surveillance, and related operational environments. Ocean space forms the second of the three areas, and it carries much of the company's underwater work. In ocean space, KONGSBERG focuses on technology that supports the sustainable management of marine resources, climate monitoring, critical infrastructure monitoring, and national security. Its ocean-space business covers autonomous and uncrewed solutions, communication solutions at sea, fish-finding equipment, ocean science, inertial solutions, seafloor mapping, surveillance and monitoring, navigation and positioning, and naval sonars. The SIMRAD brand ranks as the world's most recognized brand for professional fish-finding equipment, and KONGSBERG manufactures advanced sonars, echo sounders, gear monitoring instruments, and transducers for fishing vessels. Its products and solutions reach subsea, offshore, merchant, fishery, naval, onshore, and space applications, which spreads the same underlying technology across commercial shipping, fishing, and defence work. In space, KONGSBERG delivers across the space value chain, from launch services and the production of small satellites through to downloading and managing satellite data. It provides on-board electronics, space mechanisms, small satellite platforms and end-to-end mission integration through KONGSBERG NanoAvionics, space ground systems for satellite data acquisition and ground processing, and satellite services through Kongsberg Satellite Services AS, which offers ground station and Earth observation services. Across all three areas the company combines military and civilian expertise to drive rapid innovation for defence, research, and commercial applications, and it operates with a global footprint serving both commercial and non-commercial customers.
