OceanScan-MST designs, develops, manufactures, and markets innovative underwater systems, concentrating on autonomous vehicles and related tools for oceanographic surveys, environmental monitoring, and underwater inspection applications. Its core offering, the LAUV, provides a lightweight autonomous underwater vehicle built to be rugged, effective, and cost-effective. A single person can deploy, operate, and recover the vehicle, which suits low-logistics operations from shore, a pier, or a small boat without cranes or special tools. The LAUV uses an open architecture, letting users integrate new instruments, actuators, algorithms, behaviors, navigation options, communications modules, and payload modules, so the system adapts to different missions and to user-developed extensions. OceanScan-MST supports operation of the vehicle through Neptus, a command-and-control software framework covering mission configuration, planning, simulation, execution, and post-mission data analysis. Modularity runs through the design, with payload and navigation options built as independent modules that can be installed later or swapped out. The open system approach builds on the open LSTS toolchain from Porto University, enabling code reuse and the addition of new sensors and algorithms. Beyond the vehicle itself, the company's production work covers design, assembly of high-level systems, testing, and quality control, while mechanical parts and in-house hardware production go to outside suppliers.
