Subsea Tech

Subsea Tech is a French company in Marseille that designs, manufactures and operates inspection and observation solutions for marine and underwater environments. It both builds equipment and uses it: in addition to design and manufacturing it markets its products through distributors and local representatives around the world, and it runs an inspection service business with the same vehicles. The product range starts with remotely operated vehicles. The TORTUGA line covers the Mini TORTUGA at 19 kg rated to 300 m, the TORTUGA XP4 at 29 kg rated to 300 m, and the TORTUGA at 38 kg rated to 500 m. Smaller units are the Micro-ROV Observer at 6.4 kg and the Micro-ROV Guardian at 4.5 kg, both rated to 150 m, and AspiROV plus a range of ROV accessories complete the group. Torpedo is an autonomous underwater robot for long pipelines, able to travel up to 5,000 m inside 500 mm diameter pipe, carrying a high sensitivity HD front camera with LED lighting and optional imaging and profiling sonars, paired with a motorised winch that controls speed, recovers the vehicle and measures distance covered by odometer. On the surface the company builds USV catamarans: SeaCAT at 6.80 m, CAT-Surveyor at 3 m, AirCAT at 2.70 m or 4 m, and Catarob at 1.80 m, plus accessories. It also makes underwater cameras, video systems and towed underwater video. Third-party products it lists, including Blueprint Subsea USBL and sonars, Cygnus Instruments thickness measurement probes, Imenco underwater cameras and Seabed bathymetry sonars, are now distributed by Altis Blue, which belongs to the same group. As a service provider Subsea Tech says it is one of the few ROV and USV inspection operators able to survey the water surface, submerged body and aerial section of a structure in a single mobilisation, using its own CATS-certified drone pilots for the aerial part. It reports over 20 years of operations in France and internationally, more than 180 missions completed and over 80 public and private clients. Work areas include dam and hydraulic structure inspection, offshore oil and gas, USV drone bathymetry, offshore and marine renewable energy inspection, port infrastructure and vessel inspection, subaquatic environmental surveys, pipeline and long-distance tunnel inspection, and industrial tank inspection and cleaning. Deployed resources include 2D and 3D multibeam, side-scan and profiling sonars, underwater and aerial 3D photogrammetry systems, thickness measurement and cathodic protection sensors, certified ROV pilots and technicians, qualified hydrographers, equipped intervention vehicles, USV trailers and a semi-rigid inflatable boat. Beyond inspection it offers training on its ROVs and USVs at its facilities or on-site with a certificate on completion, rental of systems and measurement equipment for one-off operations, and after-sales maintenance and repair in France and internationally. Innovation projects include NAVIGOH, a floating system for inspecting partially flooded tunnels over long distances, ROBIS ballast inspection systems, a sediment pumping ROV, and image acquisition and AUV docking station work for the French defence procurement agency.
